On knowledge
I have always loved learning. If I had to summarize what I am most passionate about in one word, that word would be learning.
Today I walked out of a meeting for my job and walked out smiling with the wonder of a child. My teammates all asked such interesting questions. It made me feel so joyous to be surrounded by so many people who were so intelligent, but greater than that, so curious. I feel so lucky to be able to learn from such people.
I have for a while now been mulling over my future, and I think the biggest question was built around the PhD. I believe I have been approaching this question entirely incorrectly. A PhD is a doctorate in philosophy. I take philosophy here to mean a curiosity of all that is around, within, and above us.
It’s so incredible that I have this opportunity to spend 6 years being curious about the world around me. Obviously, it doesn’t stop there. It seems to me that a scientist’s job is put simply to be curious about the world around them.
What an exciting life!
